FMW Distinct Ltd started trading in 1993 under the name ‘FMW’, buying and selling golf course equipment from a 8ft x 4ft garage. Once we had taken over not only the garage but the living room, dining room and guest bedroom we realised we had probably out stayed our welcome and moved to a unit in Queen Street Mill in Burnley.

In 1999 following a grant and loan from the Princes Trust we started up a manufacturing side to our business called ‘Distinct Manufacturing’. Following a steady growth we were able to expand into a further unit in Queen Street Mill and further develop the ‘Distinct range’ of course equipment.

We supply direct to golf clubs in the Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Merseyside areas via our sales representative who visits greenkeepers’ who have the advantage of viewing our ‘showroom’ van. The rest of the UK is covered by our team of distributors whose sales representatives’ have access to our full range of products. We moved again in 2005 to Borough Saw Mill, Talbot Street, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 2RZ.

This has given us the freedom and space to develop the range of products further, we now stock a large range of workwear and have an in house print department for bespoke printing on golf flags and workwear.

In January 2006 we were the winners of the Northern Technologies, ‘Manufacturing Technology Award’ and this year are the chosen suppliers of course equipment to the British Open at Royal Birkdale Golf Club
 

The staff here are FMW Distinct, are dedicated to producing the best quality product and service to our customers at all times, we manufacturer to suit all requirements and budgets. The majority of our products are produced ‘in house’ and this allows us a great deal of flexibility in our approach to our customers’ requirements
